With HydroVision International always located somewhere in the U.S. – minus our one foray to Canada more than a decade ago – people often have the impression that we are not truly an international event.
But that word “International” is in our name for a reason. In fact, in 2018, one in four of our speakers came from outside the U.S. and 67% of all exhibitors were doing business globally. HydroVision International 2018 boasted attendees from nearly 50 countries.
And already for the 2019 event, we have speakers from Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, India, Italy, Kenya, New Zealand, Slovenia, South Africa and Switzerland.
One important aspect of the international element of HydroVision is that, again this year, it is an official U.S. Department of Commerce International Buyer Program event.
IBC is a joint government-industry effort that brings thousands of international buyers to the U.S. for business-to-business matchmaking with U.S. firms at major industry trade shows. Every year, the IBP results in about $1 billion in new business for U.S. companies, according to export.gov.
In 2018, delegations came to HydroVision International from 12 countries: Brazil, Canada, Congo, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Iceland, Italy, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand and Uzbekistan.
For HydroVision attendees, this provides an opportunity to talk to delegates from outside the U.S., both buyers of U.S. products and services in the hydro and dams markets and hydro plant owners and operators and plant personnel.
There will be networking opportunities and a USDOC lounge, with special conference pricing for official international buyer delegations.
