Vestas will provide construction, engineering and procurement for EDF Renewables’ 35-MW Wesley wind farm in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province.
The turnkey contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of 10 V126-3.45MW turbines, while also covering the full scope of the project’s civil and electrical works.
The site is expected to be commissioned in the second half of 2020, with deliveries expected to begin in the first half of the year.
Vestas will service the turbines under a 15-year contract and also deploy its VestasOnline Business SCADA solution to assist with operational management.
“We are proud to be chosen as the solution provider for this wind project at the Eastern Cape,” said Vestas Northern & Central Europe President Nils de Baar. “This turnkey project highlights our ability to deliver cost-competitive, customized solutions that ensure a solid business case for our long-term and highly-valued customer EDF Renewables.”
