It’s not clickbait! Drug dealers are now packaging Class C drugs in reusable, eco-friendly containers, ditching the traditional small plastic baggies.
This act of reduce and reuse allows their
customers to bring back their plastic pod for a refill rather than needing a
new baggie every time they need a fix. But why the change? Why would drug
dealers care about the environment?
Perhaps they don’t, or maybe they do actually
want to reduce their environmental impact, even while selling an illicit
substance. But what remains true is that they may have customers who are
passionate about the environment, with one dealer citing how much the hipster
crowd loves the switch.
While the reusable containers can indeed
reduce the carbon footprint, what they can’t do is offset the damage to the
environment caused by the production of a substance like cocaine. Growing and
producing cocaine has caused major deforestation in Colombia, as coca
cultivation damages the forest areas around the crops.
This makes the effort seem a bit hypocritical, if not only because of the harm drugs cause to the users in the first place. Cocaine use is unfortunately on the rise, whether or not users care about the environment.
It is interesting to see, based on the above,
that eco-consciousness is affecting all walks of life. For more on green jobs
