Amid overlapping climate and health crises and prolonged conflicts, policies rooted in science will put the world on the best track to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), says a new report commissioned by the United Nations and written by an independent group of scientists.

With the SDGs in jeopardy at the midpoint of implementation, the 2023 edition of the Global Sustainable Development Report (GSDR) will provide a growing body of evidence as well as practical solutions to help decision-makers overcome impediments to sustainable development. The report comes ahead of the SDG Summit (18 to 19 September) where world leaders are expected to make bold commitments to accelerate SDG implementation.

The report is written by a group of 15 experts appointed by the UN Secretary-General representing a variety of backgrounds, scientific disciplines and institutions while ensuring gender and geographical balance.
