New York, 26 August— The United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for the 2019 Climate Action Summit, Luis Alfonso de Alba, will brief media on the latest developments leading up to this September’s Summit.
Special Envoy de Alba will discuss preparations for the Summit including new initiatives and developments related to youth engagement and mobilization, air pollution, and business targets on the pathway to the Summit on September 23, including the announcement of youth climate champions selected to attend the UN Youth Climate Summit on September 21.
The Secretary-General has called for much greater ambition and bold actions backed by concrete plans at the Summit, in the areas of renewable energy, emissions reductions, sustainable infrastructure, sustainable agriculture and management of forests and oceans, withstanding climate impacts, and investing in the green economy.
